          ... s $1350 - plus about 20% tax - for a short boat ride to a place where there is nothing to do! I managed to resist the temptation.

          The reef at Eriyadu was excellent for snorkelling, and the turtles didn't charge an appearance fee - the same could be said for the sand, sunset and stars. But I don't think I'd ever be keen to holiday in such a place for very long - but beach to their own I guess, and many people obviously fancy what I don't in places a lot ...

          ... inhabit the island, and join a pre-dawn fishing trip with some local fisherfolk. Overall the few days on Kaashidhoo were a thoroughly enjoyable insight into Maldives life away from the big smoke.

          Back on Villingili there was still time to do some diving. We went to a 'cleaning station' where manta rays go to have parasites cleaned off them by small fish. Apparently the mantas like the sensation of bubbles against their skin, so they pass a couple of feet ...

          ... We had a very generous buffet lunch while we watched the ocean and the checked into our fantastic villa. Words can't describe it (only photos can)! We spent a lazy afternoon on our private deck and occasionally cooling off in the water right at our feet. We drank a whole bottle of sparking wine and had a delicious Indian and Sri Lankan dinner from the buffet. We watched a movie before bed (we have been catching up in movies we've missed in the last 12 ...

          ... cruise last night to see the sun go down and also saw some dolphins jumping alongside us. Lovely to see. Otherwise all is good in the land of paradise and tomorrow is Friday and our last day before preparing for a days travel to get back to home.
