Late this morning, after we had packed the car and given up hope of visiting Patrick (Paddy) Leigh Fermor's house, Mary got a call with the green light from the Benaki Museum in Athens. We walked there (half a mile along a public path) and were greeted by Elpida, supervisor of the house and Paddy's caretaker during the last 7 years of his long life. She showed us around (no photos inside) and told great strides with great affection for her old boss. ...

Spending a couple of days in this lovely, quiet resort town before heading deep into Deep Mani, the rugged southernmost part of mainland Greece. Today we walked in the oldtown, lunched by the water, and swam in a dazzling cove. Dan also jumped a wall to see the home of the late, great British travel writer Patrick Leigh ...

You can see some of Gill's work on facebook.com/gilltomlinsonart or wait for me to get home and unpack my ...

The longest day and our landlord Pete's 60th. What better excuse for a party! But first a swim and lunch at To Limanaki. They make their own lemonade which is very good but too sweet for us. The secret is to buy two sodas and one lemonade. Dilute the latter with the former and you have two wonderful refreshing drinks. We have joined with David and Ann to buy Pete's birthday cake so we all troop in to Koroni to Byzantino, very posh cake shop by the harbour. A box ...

... over. Once across to the other side, we were dismayed to find that road for about the next 150km was in a state of permanent roadwork. Or at least it would have been, if there were any work actually going on.
You’ve heard of the Euro crisis, right? And the effect it’s had on Greece? Well, you can only truly understand it when you drive on some of the roads. We were travelling down the main highway in the north of the Peloponnese, and it was basically ...
