... was just beautiful, and I had a comfortable seat by myself, and sat next to the window and took many pictures. We drove through the city of Santiago, which was sooooo beautiful and CLEAN! It is much nicer than Santo Domingo, and it is surrounded by mountains...Santiago is the most modern city in the country, besides Santo Domingo, and has excellent medical services available.
Once I arrived in the capital, I had a quick taxi ride to the bus ...

comforts of home with the people I love, will surely see me through. That I

I hope you have all enjoyed the blog. I have loved sharing some thoughts,
albeit probably a bit superficial at times, as feelings are often difficult to
retrieve-
Thank you for following my journey.
Please look for more pictures in the days to come.

... long he has been at home since the release. He kept tugging at his ears, so I'm sure he has an ear infection on top of the Dengue. He was so listless that he couldn't hold his head up for very long, and was unable to smile or reach out for a ball.
As we were evaluating him, his father walked in. Drunk. When we recommended to the father that he seek medical care ...
We pray for children
Who sneak popsicles before supper,
Who erase holes in math workbooks,
Who can never find their shoes.
And we pray for those
Who stare at photographers from behind barbed wire,
Who can't bound down the street in a new pair of sneakers,
Who are born in places we wouldn't be caught dead.
We pray for those who never go to the circus,
Who live in an X-rated world,

... only in underwear. Sweet kids, but resorting to desperation (pinching others, manipulation, etc.) in order to get attention. One child kept pinching the little girl I was holding! So sad! We will offer a health clinic to them on Thursday afternoon. They speak mostly Creole, limited Spanish, so communication will be interesting.
We are watching Hurricane Bill, who looks like he ...
... of Dominican turquoise. We took a public care out to the middle of nowhere and got off jumped over a cactus fence and on the face of this hill there it was just sitting on the ground. The stuff we picked up was a very dark green that almost resembled jade and it was very strong rock. We also saw some lighter stuff but it was too soft. The reason that we did this is that Dominican Outreach by collecting these rocks from ...
Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic geldakkh... just up the road, poor sods, these people are 'rich'. Here in the harbour everyone keeps their VHF radio on Ch68 and your business is everybody's. We had just finished calling a boat we had met in the Turks to ask about check-in procedures when a dinghy pulls up to say hello. It is Andrew and Kerry from Mariposa, whom we had met in Cuba a month or so ago. Of course, our use of the radio let everyone know that On-On had arrived. As they had been in Luperon for a month ...
Luperón, Luperón, Dominican Republic on-oncruising... buildings to reveal the undoubtedly non-existant fruits of our gambling labors. Finally, we arrive at the airport and park the car. It's about 1:00 a.m. at this point, and our flight leaves at 3:30. We look around for the girls, but they're not there yet. I call Gretchen's phone, and she doesn't answer. I call Katie, and she tells me that they were both sound asleep. Thankfully, Katie's city-driving skills border on maniacal, and they arrive from ...
Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic shilly... I should give myself time to adjust and understand my capability.
I must say the trip climbing up river was the exciting part despite the discomfort.my leg brushed across a plant that stung me. We climbed over waterfalls and on rocks. The annoying part is every time we would make over one climb (waterfall), one of the PCV's would say that one was the hardest. We would, then come across the next one glancing at each other and say ...
