... a turtle, and all the regular reef fish:  parrot fish, squirrel fish, trumpet fish, sea cucumbers (minchia di mare!) and a couple of really nice starfish.  The coral heads were pretty big badly damaged and there were not so many fan corals but it was still quite beautiful and so close to the beach!  The water was very clear.  Visibility around ~60 feet and we swam out slight against the current so the return was easier.  We were probably out there for ...

31/3 when we finally arrived at just after 7am we had 3 reefs in the genoa and 2 in the main, and we were still doing 6 to 7 knots, we had had several large waves come onboard during the night and the boat was damp but good, as we turned in the wind was upto 26kts, we tried to start the engines to motor in but the starboard engine would not work, so we were forced to motorsail upwind up a narrow channel between the reefs, then the main sheet ...

We started with an early morning walk to Caicos Bakery along the beach. We couldn't find the public beach access near Seven Stars, so we just ended up going through Ocean Club West and did finally find the road. Everything was heavenly. I took a bite of ...

... s boat and heading out onto the ocean towards the walls of West Caicos island. The walls around this island are structured such that, initially, divers come upon a relatively shallow, maybe 50-foot-deep reef which is teaming with wildlife. Green moray eels (what bright blue eyes they have!) peek out from underneath rocks, sting rays glide past and rainbow-colored fish abound. Then, suddenly, the reef drops and the water beyond this point is ...

... Ambergris Cay. Leaving a few hours later, we were stranded in the middle of the Caicos Bank for our anchorage - which ended up being a really sweet experience. We couldn't see land and it was a clear and beautiful night. Unfortunately, the wind and seas did kick up a bit as the night went on (we moved off a bit and anchored on our own as opposed to remaining rafted up, banging our hulls together all night), but it was still a really enjoyable ...
