... not a bad way to spend my birthday!

Monday 9th June

Its home time today, and to make the most of it, we're up at the crack of dawn and out by the pool again before our 10am shuttle to the airport. Speaking of food, I enjoyed one of the local specialties called “wrinkly potatoes” – papas arrugadas are served with mojo, a sauce made from pureed garlic, oil and vinegar, sometimes with cheese, orange, avocado, paprika ...

Start off with Ryanair flight to Madrid, was a bit worried about baggage as usual, but actually weighed in at exactly 15 kg, so no problem.
Next was a Turkish airlines flight via Istanbul to Beijing. Transit in Istanbul a bit frantic, the airport is enormous and the lines long, but eventually got to the boarding gate and off we were on the long overnight flight to Beijing
