      Glad I didn't come to the Caiso and Soca Monarch contest yesterday. Things ran late because of technical problems. An old singer who was going to have his last Carnival appearance this year (that's the message every year) had to start all over again a couple of times because of a failing monitor, thus ruining his final trick.       ... as the standard white claimed to have done. It was later discovered that he owned a paint company! As the buildings are all made from coral shell, the paint requires reapplying once a year. The Curacao-ians aren't overly rich but you wouldn't know it. Our dutch guide said its that way as they're a very proud race which is why it's an immaculately stunning country.       ... We were disappointed that they got rid of the single kayaks.We walked back on the beach- me with a Pina Colada and Den with a beer.
      For dinner we went to The Red Parrot again. We have tried all their other restaurants in the past but I love the coconut shrimp at the Red Parrot so we are going there every night. There was a band playing then some dancers. Since we dined outside we could hear and see the entertainment from the restaurant. We had a wonderful day.

      ... was a nice reward after the long walk. Next, we geared up to go back to the beach to find some comfy lounge chairs under the shade of a palapa. It was a completely relaxing day by the water and we lazed about like cats for several hours. Finally, we got motivated to clean up, taxi into the Oranjestad area and explore.
