San Carlos, our 1st sight of the Sea of Cortez!

... San Carlos is situated on the east coast of the Sea of Cortez. It is about half way down the Sea and is on the west of the Sonora Desert. The rocks and mountains on this coast are volcanic and most are a wonderful red in color. The vegetation is sparse, as you would expect in a desert but the people here love the organ pipe cactus and Saguara cactus.

... that train, feeling so bad we couldn't even speak to each other. Eventually we arrived in los mochis (a boring and inhospitable town) and stayed in a hugely expensive really rank hotel. But the next day would be different! We wo mkuld get the 8am bus to guaymas, and then the overnight ferry to Santa roslalia, and then we'd be in the land of sea and sun and nice hostels!

Obviously it all went tits up.

We got to the bus station at 7.10 to find out it had moved ...

There was free Wi-Fi in the rooms and common areas of this hotel.

We boarded the coach and had 162 miles to our destination for the evening, Alamos, Mexico. One nice amenity on the coach was free Wi-Fi which was available when we were traveling in Mexico (but not in Arizona). One could check email or read a newspaper online while on the coach.
