... the cobblestone roads to the fortress are great. The pace is slow and relaxing. There is a great path that winds in and out of the beaches on its way to a great old church. The old man giving us a tour is delighted that we are so interested and offers us Raiki (a local brandy).
After some rain, a beautiful rainbow appears.
... and local beer. After the rain we went to the appropriately titled "Fish Restaurant" as Efren had a taste for lake trout. The trout did not disappoint. Craig ate light as the tummy has been acting up a bit :)
The real joy in Ohrid is just getting lost wandering the back streets. The traditional Ottoman architecture is breathtaking, and the lushness of the gardens and verandas hard to believe. We saw plump grapes and raspberries, gorgeous roses ...

Spedzilismy w Ohrydzie dwa urocze dni, wypoczelismy i naladowalismy akumulatory energia. Czas bylo ruszac dalej. Ohrid, Macedonia bognaWe left Nick's with 3½ days to get to the Exit festival in Serbia (more on that later). The first half day we got precisely 60km, parked up for a rest (there'd been a few late nights in Greece), and decided we were just too tired to drive any further, so parked up for the night. Part-timers, eh? We crossed into Macedonia (again, they didn't spot we had no insurance! Saved us $70 for a one and a half days) and thought even though we were behind schedule we ...
Ohrid, Macedonia roamingmonk... share some of my Bulgarian rakia I brought with me. One girl spoke great English, and with the rest of them I was able to speak Bulgarian with little problems. Bulgarian and Macedonian are rediculously close to eachother, like 2 dialects of the same langauge. an added bonus is that my dialect from Belitsa, which is pretty strong since it developed isolated in the mountains, lies somewhere inbetween Bulgarian and Macedonian. Around 6 AM i headed ...
Ohrid, Macedonia mary_zell... out rooms in his apartment(ala George in Montpellier) and he charges the exhorbitant price of TEN EUROS a night per person. Wow, how will we afford this. We then head straight to the bank and pull out some Macedonian currency(the Donar). I pull out 2500 bucks, about 50 bucks worth. It is so cool being in Macedonia because of how cheap it is. We stop for a burger at a little stand and it costs us a whole dollar. Fries were extra but we thought it would ...
