... Skype her parents and as always after our Skype sessions, we feel a little home-sickness, so we go out and stroll along the edge of the Indian Ocean, to make us realise how lucky we are, and we are away for a short period, we'll, only 15 month's, haha..

It's surprising really where the day goes when you don't do much, ah well, there's always maņana!!!

I had a ginger tea while I waited, which had actual chunks of ginger which was incredible.
When my room was ready they lead me down to a room made of black rock with a table, bath and shower in it with Balinese music playing softly.
I changed into the mesh underwear provided (it looks like a shower cap and was hilarious) and then my masseuse came in!

... was about two o'clock and too warm to do the rice field walk we had planned. We began to pack up our suitcases. Around four thirty we headed out for our rice field walk with Wayan. With so many beach resorts to stay on in Bali we had trouble deciding where to go, it's a hard life! We knew we wanted to avoid the south as it's apparently Australia's answer to Benidorm and as it was the Aussie holidays when we were in Bali we thought better not chance it! ... So much under one roof! We go back to the class and start working hard. We make: bakso (Balinese soup with chicken balls), pepes (fish wrapped on banana leaf), uran (boiled vegetable salad), nasi kuning (yellow rice) and for dessert: dadar gulung (pancake/crepe filled with shredded cocunut). And not listed but perhaps the most important part of the balinese meals is the balinese sauce, a mix between garlic, turmeric, ginger, shrimp paste, onions, pepper, chillies ...
