Aksam otelimize geldik. Otel ana yoldan uzak, hava yagmur ciseliyor. Kolay bulduk oteli, Liza girdi odaya bakmaya. Rezervasyonumuz olsa bile ozellikle her gittigimizyerde once odanin isitmasini acip bakiyoruz sonra odaya kayit yaptiriyoruz (Bilbao`daki oteli hayirla anarak tabi). Oda cok keyifli cikti. Kose bir oda. King size bir yatak. Eski tarz masa ve dolaplar, cok rahat bir sandalye. Uzun suredir yazilarimi hep yatakta uzanirken ...

Depuis hier, nous suivons la progression de l'ouragan Irene, qui risque de nous empêcher de partir - ou tout au moins désorganiser quelque peu notre planning...
20 h 30 ce dimanche 28, il semble que tout danger soit écarté et que les choses vont doucement se remettre en place : l'électricité, les vols aériens, les transports newyorkais... et que nous pourrons donc bien décoller mardi matin.

... of the UK and we were srtuggling with the heat - a theme that continued for the rest of the afternoon and evening!

We arrived in Calais just after 3pm local time and after the technical hitch with the ferry ramp was sorted, we were on our way! Glad that the hitch was at the end of the journey or we might not have been here today!

... and a frantic search for a suitable rural location for a fifth visit and a sixth at the lunchtime stop were proving a little wearing on the spirit!)

As it turned out I took a wrong turn and covered more ground than planned, but all through pretty villages, all competing for an annual flower competition, which helped take the mind from other matters ;)
