... not cared for as there was grass and weeds over growing the pathway and not much room to walk through without touching a branch or bush. But after a solid hike up plenty of stairs and hills, we reach the statue and are rewarded with the sweet views from the top overlooking San Juan del Sur nestled in the marina. Spend a bit of time admiring the view and getting some cheeky snaps before making our descent down the mountain via the road this time. The hostel is putting on wings and ...

They had some star fruit juice from their garden which was pretty tasty! It wasn't a bad view from the bar either with the volcano in the background. Before leaving on this trip we had thought about staying in one place for a longer period of time, a month maybe. San Juan del Sur lies directly west of Lake Nicaragua, only 11km separates the lake and the Pacific Ocean. What used to be a small fishing has, over the past 10 years, become an internationally
renowned surf spot. Seems like a great place to ...

Some time late morning, as bags were packed and loaded into el Burro, hostel paid for, and breakfast eaten, the stereo system suddenly came to life with the decibels on high. We saw the stone set in his eyes, the thorn twist in his side, and Podge was waiting...with or without us. My new Irish friend would be staying in Leon as Claire and I drove further south to San Juan del Sur, and he had U2 and hugs to punctuate his ...
