Italian leather... a girl's best friend

... purse. I still don’t regret it at all. After I found my purse, Katy found one she liked as well, so we both left with new purses. We went to grab a bite to eat at a little restaurant right down the street from our hostel, then went to pick up Steve. That night, we basically just chilled out, got settled, and caught up with stories from Rome and Poland (where Steve had been).

The second day Ali and Kelsa were coming in the late ...

Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving!

I spent the morning taking an Italian exam!!! The afternoon was a little more fun, touring Palazzo Pitti with my Art History class.

It was a little strange spending it without everyone but my school put together a little gathering for us. A group of us dined on a typical American Thanksgiving at a local restaurant. We were served Butternut Squash soup with bread, Turkey ...

Florence... art and leather

... since some monks were on the site a few hundred years ago.

Walked around Baboli Gardens which were pretty stunning and crazy to think they were someones backyard at one stage.

After dinner with Zoe, Nonie, James and Kerrin we walked around looking a bar and then when we found it didn't like it so just got 3 bottles of wine for 10 Euro and headed back to the hostel - only to see 4 bottles for 10 Euro around the corner!!!

Cooking Class

Hi Everyone!

After an exhausting weekend in Brussels, I was in for yet another treat with cooking classes in Florence. Organized by my school, a group of us met with a chef for some lessons.

We were taught how to prepare typical Tuscan cuisine including Ribollita and Stuffed zucchini-flowers.

Everything was delicious & I look forward to trying these recipes at home!

I'll update you soon,

... of which were no help to us. Getting lost though, is great way to see a city nonetheless. We finally made it home and decided that we were going across the river to a bar that night to try to escape the Americans and be amongst the Italians. So we trekked it across the River and made it to the bar. Hung out for about an hour and then got hungry. There is this place in Florence that makes these cabobs with a tortilla that somewhat resemble a California ...

Last day in Florence

I had originally planned to wake up early to go check out the galleria dell'academia at 8am but that was definately not happening after my crazy night. I woke up around 10:30 am and headed back to my hostel so I could change out of my sweat drenched clothes. Today was a musuem day.

I started off with the galeria dell'academia. This is where the famous Michelangolo's David is. It was truly amazing ...

Florence Duomo-Steeped in 1600 Years of History!

... from high atop the dome, is amazing and definitely worth every huff and puff upon arrival. !

Compared to the highly adorned exterior of the cathedral, the interior is more reserved in its design and features frescos painted by the Florentine masters in the 14th and 15th centuries. Along the walls, you'll discover frescos by Paolo Uccello, Adrean del Castagno, a painting of Dante and his "Divine Comedy" by Domenico di Michelino and ...

... another trio of Aussies who we all ended up having a rather loud chat to. It was a very good night and left us (well Dave) feeling very shabby the next morning, with Dave saying the usual wait until your 30 then you will understand speech.... (He said the same thing to me when he was 25). So tasked with driving for the second time that week we headed out of Florence on our way to Pisa and the Cinque Terre, or so we thought. About 5 minuets ...

All about Florence

... from this union of two contradictory beings surges the Spring, who advances serenely distributing flowers. The second phase takes place in the human state: Castitas and Voluptas are in diametrically opposed positions, since the first desires to maintain the ring of the dance while the latter desires to go to Mercury, anticipating with this gesture, the effect of the arrow which Cupid is shooting; Pulchritudo, the third, tries to reconcile the two extremes: to go where ...
