Just a quick overnight stop here on the way down to San Jose. Passing through the Costa Rica border from Nicaragua was pretty straight forward and I arrived in Liberia around 5pm. There didn´t seem to be much to the place really. Costa Rica is the most developed country in central America and hence the most expensive, there were some good restaurants here and it was good to get some food that wasn´t corn based.

... Hermosa. Swell is coming in and it supposed to be one of the best beaches around the country. I'll probably be there for a few days as I need to get my tooth fixed. May 3 We have heard that the southern border crossing between Nica and Cost Rica can be slow so we get an really early start. 9am LOL. Beacuse there is four of us traveling it was almost as cheap to grab a cab to the border as it is to take the two buses and it saves about an hour. So in the cab we go. (the cab was $15 for 4 people and took 45 minutes) At the border we wander over to immigration and notice a line of about 30 people waiting to exit Nica. This is the longest line ...

... out separate...once we drove about 10 minutes out of the way to take a man with a package home, once we dropped him off the driver turned the bus around and we went back the way we had just came. It was awful, but what could we do? Luckily the guys in the seats behind us were our age and from Wyoming, so we made the best we could out of the situation. ... so we went to a hotel room and drank a couple bottles with candle light. i´ll be studyin in san juan till the end of january, surfing and beachin it up in my spare time. on the weekends, i´m going to go back to maderas and camp. san juan is great though, very tiny town. every person that you meet, you usually run into them while your wandering around town. i love it. hope your enjoying the canadian winter for those of you in the great white north!!!! adios

... warm temperature and pretty flat sea, exactly what one would expect from the Pacific Coast.
