Portugal is rapidly becoming our favorite place in the world. Why, you ask? Three reasons: interesting and beautiful beaches, pitchers of sangria and flavorful, fresh seafood. Here in Praia de Luz we have found all three within easy access. We're enjoying the variety and changing flavors of Portugal, especially this Algarve region.

This morning we went for a walk on the Praia de Luz beach. Normally the ...

    Old Town, Lagos

... rock formations or dolphins, and go out fishing. Old town still has some of the very old, like 15th century, walls and an old military fort that guards the harbor. The streets are narrow and all cobblestoned, lined with restaurants and shops. A beautiful old church is at one end of old town and the old fort at the other end. We shopped for a new shirt for each of us and then ...

We traveled to Faro airport in southern Portugal on Tuesday and drove to our new apartment in Praia de Luz. We love Portugal. The weather is warm, about 80 degrees during the day and down to about 70 or 75 at night. Every day is sunny and the sky is blue, almost the same deep blue as the Atlantic ocean near our apartment. We're staying in a beautiful resort apartment in a complex called Baia ...

... and prevented any real waves building up.

It seemed as if Lagos would be a perfect spot as we rounded the rocky headland before it; the wind had dropped away entirely to leave glassy water and a beautiful beach. We headed over to the beach so we could find a supermarket and some provisions, but by the time we were returning the wind had vastly increased. This was the wrong moment for our little electric outboard to die and we found ...

    Osh Kosh Lagosh

Not too much to tell from yesterday in lagos, we had a relaxing beach day and got in some surfing and that's about it. We have met some great people here, had some amazing food, some how managed to not get sunburnt and enjoyed just being able to relax for a few days. So this day in Lagos (lagosh as the locals say) was filled with surf, sand and sangria, the three S's of a healthy lifestyle. We rented boards and messed around in some beach waves which was a lot of fun! ...
