Tower Street San Lawrenz, Island of Gozo, Malta
We arrived this morning, everyone on the top deck to witness our entry into port. It was so windy up top that one almost fell over. I enjoyed playing Winged Victory while watching the coastline.
The harbor is fantastic, ancient fortified walls, forts, escarpments, limestone, cobblestones, towers, ships. The colors hurt the eye they are so brilliant. From the sea to the sky to the boats and wooden ...
I've just popped over to Malta for a day & a bit (as you do!) to say a quick hello / goodbye to my parents (and bring them lots of goodies over for the last time in a while).
The weather is a little warmer than the UK, but not as warm as it's going to be in a week's time (ha ha ha).
Anyway, I'll keep this blog short so ciao for now!

... a grey cold day with showers didn’t help its cause. Maybe in twenty something years tourism will have lifted their game a bit, but couldn’t help but think perhaps years of public money siphoned off to the mob has probably ground these people down.
We are looking forward to the next part of our journey, Rome for five nights. We will leave the ship a few kilo’s heavier, but looking forward to a little more flexibility in our time table.
... without her. She speaks no English and I’m starting to envision the scenario when she is left behind. She didn’t want to come with us because she was tired after the Montserrat tour and she was already mad at Juju for bringing her. I run back to the cathedral where Juju last saw her and I come back without finding her. Somehow she just shows up a few minutes later. Later we head to a museum and into a theater to hear ...
Valletta, Island of Malta, Malta hiwhthi... ice cubes. Pure class. We set up beer pong and flip cup stations and several of us wore togas in true Animal House frat party fashion. One of the guys had a beer bong. It really was kind of like the fourth of July on a college campus. Weird. I didn't drink. I hate beer - the smell, the taste, it's just not for me. I tried out a Jello shot or two though. A lot of people started early and were pretty wasted by the time the party got going. Made for some interesting pictures. I was ...
Lija, Malta avalon_48... Malta is a full-fledged member of the European Union, even using the €uro as currency (they don't all do that); Malta is a Lesser Antilles-size island with a large population of almost a half million, something like an urbanized St. Kitts of the Mediterranean; Malta is Christian, VERY Christian. The thumbnail sketch would be something like: modern Malta is a combination of three cultures- Arab, Italian, and British. While there would ...
St Julians, Malta viskiki... Malta hasn't realised that it's part of the EU. Generally in most EU countries, everything's open except Mondays, but Valletta was closed by 12:30. **** it, **** it, **** it !!! One of the premier sites is the Cathedral, and we had ****ed up and was unable to see it. Either it was me or it was Malta that was the ****wit, I couldn't determine which one. ****** off, we walked a bit more until we came upon the bus station. Now here in Malta, the place ...
Valletta, Malta uncle_davros... allowed, so here is a link to the painting... http://www.wga.hu/frames-e.html?/html/c /caravagg/10/62behead.html Scandalous this St. John story is -- a biblical soap opera. He let King Herod know that he did not approve of his marriage to Herodias, his very own sister-in-law! Damn! Herodias, she was head-bobbin mad about this, and wanted St. John killed. Her chance came when her daughter Salome's ...
Valetta, Malta rossihohn... coloured countryside rather unusual. Eventually I made it to what I think were the cliffs, more like steep hilsides falling away into the ocean, which encompassed small but interesting farming plots halfway down the slopes. Somewhere out in the hazy distance to the south lay Libya and Tunisia. Having found my stride I continued walking to my main goal of the day ...
