... in a different kind of place.

We had at least 6 hours to kill before our night train left for Belgrade so we decided to wander around. While we were walking to the downtown area, I kept thinking to myself, "How is this country a part of the EU?" It was really dirty, with litter everywhere. The shops and stores seemed kind of “ghetto.” We eventually found somewhere to eat (after what seemed like a really long ...
Bar, Serbia and Montenegro mdaa... water is really cool but not cold so its really nice after walking for a while to dip into it now and again was really nice. From the beach I headed along the coast walking on the main road which enabled me to see the coast probably in all its glory instead of just driving by. The coast line in Montenegro is quite stunning its just a shame the weather was not the best as it would of made alot of difference. I was able to do some more swimming at various small beaches along ...
Sveti Stefan, Montenegro richardcowley... us were so tired each day we usually had dinner and retired early, except for one night. This just happened to be the one night of my entire vacation I was overly exhausted wanting to retire early at any cost. Inversely, this was the one evening both Darko and Bojana incredibly excited informed me to take a shower, dress and get ready for a big surprise. When I asked Darko what this surprise was and its great importance being I was so tired; he merely insisted I go get ready for it ...
Serbia and Montenegro, Serbia lpcyu... That is why I love this country- because whenever you leave it, every other English person is your mate by default. (Apart from one angry bloke I met in Rome who ranted about the EU at me when I asked if he could pass me the copy of the Sun he had next to him (more because I needed something to read rather than an actual desire to read it)). The Yorkshireman's name was John and he was part of a team of builders working on our ...
Podgorica, Montenegro englishanddrunk... of Kotor to save time but still don't make it back to the hotel until just after midnight. We head into the old town for drinks at a few different watering holes. The brilliant idea of swimming leads to an adventure of sneaking into an adjacent villa to swim in the hot tub and "private" pool. We all have a blast and wind up forgetting about the whole sleep thing quite easily... What great adventure!
Kotor, Croatia madman96... we've ever made. Not a day (or a few hours) goes by without us pinching ourselves about how fortunate we are, and how much fun we're having. Not that we didn't enjoy our former alias lives at all (cos that was absolutely awesome too), but this really is a great way to live. We're lucky in that we get on so well when we spend 24 hrs a day, 7 days a week together, and never ...
Sveti Stefan, Serbia and Montenegro roamingmonk... plane trees. Quite artistic and reminded me of strangler fig trees in Costa Rica. That night the entire hostel watched Thelma and Louise. Always wanted to watch that movie. It was the strangest feeling watching it with a room full of men and 2 other women. Hey, they chose the movie. And I got to see Brad Pitt before the effects of 10 years of heavy smoking. Can't complain.
Sveti Stefan, Serbia and Montenegro lilyc... and used the internet for 3 hours (I hope you appreciate these!) I visit all the town churches at dusk, when its slightly quieter. They're all built in a Baroque style and is nice to see a bit of history. I have to go for solo dining again, feel a bit of a loner but enjoy my meal all the same. Sneak a bit of the bread into my bag for breakfast tomorrow. I found an orchestra playing in one of the back streets after dinner, which was a great way to end the evening.
Kotor, Serbia and Montenegro sarahx... headed out for the night. After a delicious dinner of calamari and mussels, we had a drink at an overpriced bar, presumably because it had Hemmingway's name on the door. We quickly switched venues and decided to check out the local jazz bar. There was a trio of men playing cover songs, some in English, and some in Croatian. There was a pianist, a bassist, and a saxophone player. They were fun-loving older gentleman who really enjoyed getting the crowd involved. Glenn, you ...
Dubrovnik, Croatia the_stamms... we reached the top of Srd Hill. Phew!!! But the views were definitely worth the effort. On one side was the great views of Dubrovnik and its suburbs. On the other, we were able to see into Bosnia. The rest of Tuesday consisted of relaxing and people watching. On Wednesday morning, we tackled the walk around the Old Town wall. The entire trip, with numerous photo stops, took about 2 hours. The views from the wall into the city as well ...
