We were met at reception and given a coffee, "sorry b/fast not available yet as all salesstaff are busy" (we were told by the attractive hostess). After us relaxing in the lobby with our coffee , for about 15 minutes the Hostess, all apologetic, came along to say "sorry all our staff are still busy" - but she was armed with our goodies anyway; ...

I saw similar if not the same items for sale in San Jose that I could have bought for a fraction of the price in Costa Rica and San Juan Del Sur. ... the scenic route along the coast rather than the motorway to reach Cabo Pulmo, without knowing that the journey would take an extra 2 hours along with all of my energy. It required 3 hours of full concentration, and I have never had to concentrate that much whilst driving, so many rocks and bumps and ditches to avoid, not to mention steady cliff driving. The long and winding road was amazing with so many breath-taking ...

... of sand. Granted, Playa Solmar is on the Pacific-side of the Baja Peninsula and as such, is exposed to powerful waves crashing down on its shores. Swimming is definitely out of the question - the riptides are incredibly strong, and several people have died over the years trying to swim at Playa Solmar.

Being unable to swim on this beautiful stretch of sand is a definite shame, but that also means that it is wonderfully uncrowded - how often can ...
