... on throughout history to continue to describe all kinds of shopping centers up until the adoption of the modern day shopping mall. The souk that we visited was an interesting combination of tourist souvenirs, high end clothing stores, jewelry shops and restaurants. We thought it was pretty funny to find a Cinnabon right in the middle of shops selling hookahs, hijabs and all sorts of Arabic art and knick knacks but that was probably the best way to sum up the souk.
