    Farewell Faithful Friend - Kerenne is Sold!

    From Port Atheni we spent a few nights in several familiar places and one or two new ones. Kerenne was lifted out on 26th June and we spent the next 3 days preparing to travel home via Corfu. This period was one of nostalgia as we remembered all of the places Kerenne had taken us over the last eleven and a half years.



    Since buying Kerenne at the end of 2003 we have enjoyed many adventures, and some not ...

    We enjoyed 4 nights in Fiskardho for Johns birthday, relaxing and eating out and basically being in holiday mode. One evening we were having a meal in the taverna next to Kerennes berth when a couple sat at another table showed lots of interest in the For Sale sign on the stern. It was amusing to watch them as they weren't aware that the people sitting 2 tables away ...

    While in Eufemia we walked up into the hills to visit the ruins of the village of Drakopoulata. The village was virtually destroyed and abandoned during the 1950s as a result of the earthquakes. Many of the old buildings remain but resurgence of building work is taking ...

    ... prepared to tie up the wind came up once more with a Force 4 lowing straight across the quay. After a minor mishap we eventually got tied up stern to and settled down to enjoy a few nights in this delightful working town. The local workforce had other ideas however and were using a very noisy machine to cut a trench along the road and everyone left the harbour next day to escape the noise.

    ... for about a mile or so, passing some holiday apartments and houses and a small harbour, until this road ended. We turned around and drove back into Boukka, to the harbour and parked there. The area has the feel of a has been resort, a little run down, but maybe that's just because it's winter time. In the harbour there are a pair of Great Crested Grebes diving for fish, a large white cat is sat at the side ...
