Today, we woke up early to try our luck with turtles for the second time. ... Galle was a European fort after it was a Sinhalese settlement. The dutch arrived and built a basic fort here in 1588, following this the Portragese conquered the Dutch with a slave army and built what we see today. The Galle fort is one of the best preserved 14th century European forts in Asia and here's the best bit - I'm sleeping within it! I'm really liking the atmosphere here and it's a real highlight of my trip. A place not to miss in ones Sri lankan ...
