Today, we woke up early to try our luck with turtles for the second time. Rather than risk another late night waiting with a group of dubious ex poachers praying for a turtle to roll up, we headed to a turtle sanctuary instead where you can see injured turtles that are being cared for before they are released again. After looking around Galle we got another bus to Mirissa - absolute paradise!
It's a small beach town, a lot like Unawatunna but smaller and quieter.

... Galle was a European fort after it was a Sinhalese settlement. The dutch arrived and built a basic fort here in 1588, following this the Portragese conquered the Dutch with a slave army and built what we see today. The Galle fort is one of the best preserved 14th century European forts in Asia and here's the best bit - I'm sleeping within it!
