... baby on the way. We stopped at a taverna by an amazing beach. The food was very average, the beer was good, the water looked several shades of turquoise & quite choppy, the sand was golden and Lance got a rusty nail through his foot. Luckily his tetanus is all up to date. The beach was located close to the islands airport. The planes were coming in to land what seemed like every couple of minutes. Waiting for the bus back to the port I made friends with a couple of Californians, a guy and a girl. They were headed to Naxos too. The guy was nice (a software engineering hobbyist) but the girl seemed a bit aloof and gave the impression I was an imposition ...

... tour buses there by the time we arrive at 8.30am (another hot tip from those in the know). Still the crowds weren't too bad at all. We opted not to have a tour guide. There are explanatory signs are nearly every major brick or fresco, so its pretty easy to get around yourself and work out what you are looking at. Its an amazing place if you are a history buff. Lots of columns and arches and frescos, all very well preserved. It always blows my mind that ...
