    ... There were a couple of organised tours on the island that did not interest Claire and I, therefore we decided to go to shore simply to have a look around the township ourselves.     We managed to get out the door and away reasonably early for the trip to Pergamon today and when we got there it was pretty much deserted (about 10am). We opted for the very flash funicular instead of climbing up 300m, which w as a good idea as it was already hot.
