... in everything and I was soaking it all in- the sights, aroma and sounds of reggaetón.

After Columbus had discovered Puerto Rico in 1493, Spain began commissioning several key fortifications to safeguard it's possessions and protect the growing empire. We were on our way to San Felipe Del Morro, the caribeean's largest fortress and six level citadel overlooking the Atlantic and San Juan Harbor. Coined by King ...

... up, doing some last minute shopping in the galleria and grabbing lunch at Galleria Pizza & Trattoria. I was actually quite happy with my chicken tender wrap! This was a great little place to grab a "quick" bite..well as quick as you can get on island time that is!

Then it was bye bye Puerto Rico! Hope to see you again soon!

Day 1 at Sea

... will take us 3,000 miles across the Atlantic to the Canary Islands- our first port. It will take the ship 5 days to cross the Atlantic. The ship is the nicest we have ever been on and our cabin is great- quite spacious for a cruise ship and we have a nice private balcony. The ship departed at 5pm yesterday. We met several interesting people last night and ...

At 3:30pm, we left the beach heading back to the hotel. The ride was as entertaining as in the morning. Bob, with his Puerto Rican accent, continued to impress and amuse us. We arrived at the hotel around 4:30pm after a fun-filled day. We all exchanged goodbyes and good luck.

Tomorrow, embarkation day!

Thankful for Bob's services.

... served as a very odd starting point for my adventure to India.  Don't worry everybody, I managed to escape with no sunburns, but I can't exactly claim to be tanned.  Bryn had a blast, and so did B.O.B on the days/nights he showed up.    Anyways, from here I'll be flying to New York City, where I'm hanging out until 11 pm tonight (Jan.2), then I'll be jumping into a plane and flying to Dubai where I'll arrive at 830pm ...

Arrival in San Juan, PR

... charge, we took the room. Haaaaaaaa, did I sleep well. After about 3 hours of sleep we got up again, refreshed and started sightseeing. We booked a tour (yes I know, so touristy) to the Illuminescent Bay, which is as I heard an absolute must see, for that night and then took the Public Bus to Old San Juan. What an adventure. The ride took forever and the people on the bus were very interesting to watch. Very few other "brave" tourists made it on the public bus and it was easy ...

... run around and feed them. The boys, including the father, chased birds around and picked them up, and the little girl, probably eighteen months or so, just ran all around chasing pigeons. It reminded me of what I probably looked like when I used to chase the birds at Disneyland when I was little. Apparently that was my favorite activity on that trip, chasing the pigeons. She was so precious, all clad in pink and running as fast as her little legs would ...

Visit El Yunque (El Joon-kay) Rain Forest

Grab some breakfast. Rent the car. Pick up Kristin. Stop for snacks (because you know the Globetrotters can never hit the road without some snacks). Then we're on our way to El Yunque (El Joon-kay) Rain Forest about 45 minutes from Rio Piedras. After a brief stop at the visitor's information center to watch a short film and browse around, we head up, up, up the mountain. What a beautiful drive up the narrow, winding road past trees I've never seen ...

The female was born in another area, but had moved to the region later in life. The infant had also been born in another region and then brought to the La Tiza area. I'm still awaiting the results from carbon dating on some samples from my sector. They should be in any day now and will give ...

Puerto Rico

We arrived in Puerto Rico yesterday after being at sea for 4 days. The ship is pretty nice. I wasn't sure what to expect at first but it's pretty big. The rooms are a little small but they're livable. My roommate is Caitlin from Ithaca. We get along great which makes living in this tight space so much easier. We get spoiled on this ship with people cleaning up after us. Everyday a steward comes in and cleans our room and makes our ...
