... Sforzesco for a brief walk around - it is huge and beautifully built with rounded brick turrets and huge courtyards. We decided not to catch the metro but walk through the city, it is more interesting that way. We then visited the Duomo for an inside look. We took the audio tour, visited the crypt and found a cardinal Alfredo Ildefonso Schuster who was honoured for his contributions. He might be related! We then decided to go up to the roof of the Duomo ( ... Steps). What ...

... rest, but I am determined to battle on and enjoy the many treats on offer. After the big feed we had at the airport I decide on one thing only and order the Iranian Caviar which is served on Melba Toast & Blinis with chopped onion, chopped egg white, chopped egg yolk, sour cream & a wedge of lemon wrapped in muslin to ensure no pips get into my caviar. In time for a late dinner in the restaurant next to the Ibis hotel we stayed at, and ...

... much to Oliver's delight.

We reached Como at about 5pm, and checked into our hotel. That left us time to walk down to the quay, have a drink at a cafe popular with the local sparrows, and wend our way to a delightful restaurant round the corner from the hotel. A short walk along the lakeside helped us to digest it all, before finishing with a bottle of wine watching the busy Saturday nightlife from our room's ...

Italy - just how I remembered it ! Dirty and crazy

After saying our goodbyes to Sarah and Switzerland we were on the train for 3.5 hours to Milan. The trains are great! Always on time, clean and spacious carriages and easy to suss out! Our trip took us through lots of hills, valleys and tunnels through mainly rural areas and tiny villages. We arrived at Milan at 5.30 just starting to get dark. The train station is a huge old marble building that has amazing architecture but full of ...
