    ... some pain, the first pain aux raisins of the tour and some tea. It was so hot on the terrace, such a contrast from our previous descent.

    We reached our stop for the night, La Maison de Joséphine, by about 1:30pm. Unfortunately it was a 10 minute climb up from Guillestre, one which we repeated sans panniers when we went to search for a restaurant.     ... there doesn't seem to be much else on offer in the modern part of the city.

    The restaurant 'Spirit' hosted a folk group that travels throughout France by tractor. We clearly picked the place to stay in Briançon that had a bit of life to it. The only disadvantage was that it was quite noisy in our room for all the French chat downstairs in the bar.

    ... A few cyclists passed us on the way to the top. It's a fairly constant 7% for the whole 12 km. At the top of every col so far there has been someone who has offered to take a photo for us, Col du Télégraphe was no exception.

    We donned an extra layer and enjoyed a smooth ride down to Valloire, where we found a patisserie that would easily accommodate our bike without a lot of faffing around, and offered some outside tables in the sun.
