Magnificent Town Homes
Just got back from Regal Palms. Stayed last 2 weeks of June '04. Homes are immaculate, big rooms, great bathrooms and all the comforts of home included. The pool area looks fantastic and looks like it will open this week (Friday 9 July 2004). They say the clubhouse will open a couple of weeks later. The whole development is beautiful and convenient to stores, restaurants and the parks. Will definitely be staying there again, I can't rate it enough. Booked it direct with the owner and got a great deal.
A very pleasurable experience
This was our first vacation with our children and other family members. The townhomes are beautiful and clean. The pool isn't built quite yet , however it looks like it will be even more fum once everything is completed. The kids wanted to go to the theme parks everyday which happen to be very close by but we had just as much fun staying in for 2 days just relaxing, cooking and enjoying the townhome. We were short on towels but the staff were more than accomadating and supplied us prompyly with what we needed. We rented 3 homes and had a memorable family reunion!
Regal Palms very disappointing
We stayed at the Regal Palms 6/16/04-6/23/04 The experience was less than pleasant. When we arrived the townhouse was 82 degrees inside. After traveling in the heat all day it would have been nice to arrive to a nice cool house. We turned the thermostat down and went to bed. When we got up it was still 80 degrees. We tried to adjust the thermostat again. We left for the day and came back to a 83 degree house. The next morning my son discovered the bed he had all his belongings on was infested with ants. They were everywhere. He moved out of the room and slept on the couch for the next 4 nights. That morning I called regarding the air conditioning not working and the ant problem. I left a message on the voice mail and left my cell phone no. if there were questions. I never received any calls so I assumed the problem would be taked care of. We arrived home late that evening and it was 84 degrees and the ants were still there. I called the on site office and they sent out a maintenance man. He tried to fix it but I don't think he was real up on this type of problem. He said he would leave a note for the heating/air conditioning person to check on it the next day. He also said if the problem wasn't better to notify the office in the am and they could move us somewhere else. Well, surprise, surprise the next morning was no better. I called the office and was assured someone would come asap to fix the problem. 3 hours later still no response. I called back before we left for the day and was assured it would be taken care of. I called from Epcot in the late afternoon to make sure it was taken care of and the person I talked to didn't know anything about it and said he would call maintenance again. We arrived home at 11 p.m. that night to a 84 degree house. My husband went down to the office to complain again. The office person attempted to get someone to come but no one wanted to take reponsibility to come and fix the problem. Finally, the office person decided to move us to a new townhouse. When we arrived in the new townhouse half of it hadn't been cleaned. Two beds weren't made and two bathrooms weren't cleaned. I notified the office again and since he didn't have access to any clean sheets/towels he wanted to move us again. By this time it was 12 midnight. We refused to move again. My husband and I ended finding some clean sheets in the house so we had to change the dirty bed before we could go to bed and clean up the dirty towels in the bathroom. The next day I spoke with a manager in the main office and she acted like she couldn't figure out why I was upset. She acted like she was doing me a big favor to let us stay in the new townhouse. She even at one point wanted to know if we wanted to move back to the previous townhouse. She told me she would have the upper management person call me. I gave her my cell phone no. (since none of the phones in the houses work) I received no call.
When we were packing up to leave I noticed I was missing 2 brand new pairs of pants that still had the tags on them. I though perhaps they had been left at the previous townhouse. I went over there and they weren't there. The on site office person told me to call the main office the next day to see if housekeeping had found them and turned them in. Surprise, surprise ......no pants turned in. When we were closing up our luggage we noticed 3 out of 4 luggage tags were missing from our suitcases. I know they were on when we arrived because we had to use them to identify our luggage at the airport. I feel someone came in while we were gone and took my pants and luggage tags. This is the only place I stayed during my trip so this is the only place they could have disappeared.
Overall, this is the worst place I have ever stayed for vacation. The staff is unreliable, poorly triained, untrustworthy, unresponsive. I would never, never stay here again.......
Rented a 4 bedroom house with pool.
House was dirty, pool was dirty, no coffeemaker. Office people were not very pleasant.
Told us they would send the cleaning staff along with coffeemaker - never showed up.
It looked like we were the first ones to rent it but I think their service people are partying in this house.
Beautiful Place/Near Disney
We stayed at Regal Palms 5/20/04-5/23/04 they are almost completed with the pool area. We were allowed to use the pool and tennis courts across the street The townhomes are nicely decorated and great to come home to after a day at the parks. We can't wait to come back next year and stay longer!
Horrible Management Customer Service
I booked my family Florida vacation through Expedia for 7 nights May 1- May 7, 2004. We had a large group two adults and 5 kids ranging from the ages <1 - 13 years old so we needed a big place. We reserved a 3 bedroom town home however when we got there we were given a 4 bedroom town home. I made sure to find out if this would be extra cause we did not need another room, I was advised that that was what they had available. O.k fine, we got into the townhome which was brand new they did not have a phone in the home so if we wanted to make any local calls we would have to use the on site office's phone. About the second day I noticed that cleaning people were going into houses on another street every day and no one had come into ours. I asked Sam our on site person why no one had come and that we needed bags for our garbage bins, he stated that house cleaning would come by he currently did not have any bags. That night one black garbage bag was placed in our kitchen and one new soap in the downstairs bedroom. That's it!!Tuesday, no housekeeping yet. The Master bedroom toilet gets clugged so now there is ---- overflowing in the toilet. We go over to Sam and tell him that we need someone to look at the toilet. He stated he'd put in the order but the plummers are coming from Orlando and he wasn't sure when they'd be there. Wednesday night my boyfriend goes over to the on site office and asked again about the toilet and was told "Well I put in the order". My boyfriend manages to get 3 white garbage bags. Thursday no housekeeping, no plummer. I go over now to the on site office another guy is there he apologizes and states he will be sure to have the plummer in to fix the toilet. Once again I inquire what is going on with the housekeeping, no one has come into our house. He states he'll look into it.Friday, I'm fed up, I call home to Canada on my cell phone and have someone find the phone number for Regal Palms Management on the intenet. I place a call to the Management office advising them of my toilet situation (four day old ---- in the toilet), they advised my they'd have someone out that morning. I then asked if housecleaning was included with my stay and what duties would be done. I was told that general housekeeping was included with the stay, I should have gotten my beds made every day, the garbage taken out and light cleaning (tidying up). I advised the management that I did not receive the house keeping at all. I was told that they'd look into it and someone would call me back. In the meantime the would send someone over right away. This is Friday the last night of the stay. I advised the lady on the phone that we did not have a phone at our house, she still stated she'd call me back. I gave her my cell number which is long distance as it is a 416 number. I waited and waited no call. I called back and got another women named ------- I explained againg the situation and that I wanted the housekeeping portion of my booking fee reimbused as I did not receive any housekeeping. She told me she did not have the authority for this and I would need to speak to the General Manager. I was given the number, since he was in a meeting so I left two messages on Friday, Saturday I called back and spoke to again and she advised me that housekeeping did go by our house I stated yes they did on Friday( and what a job they did..all the beds were all made up for the first time for the week and I actually had my garbage taken out and were replaced with new bags plus the house was vacuumed and the kitchen counters cleaned), which was the last night of our stay after I called into the management office and advised that of the situation. Once again I was referred to the General Manager who I was told was in a meeting AGAIN. I left another voicemail message, I left a message with reception stating I was leaving that morning and needed him to call me before 11am. I was told she would have him call before I left. No call. Sunday no call. Monday I called Expedia.ca, to see if they can get some closure. The Expedia agent called them while I waited on the next line and advised me after he finished talking to them that they told him the issues were already resolved, they had spoken to me already and as for housekeeping it was done. LIARS, LIARS....He told me he asked if she could provide some sort of comp or discount and she stated no the issue was dead and dealt with. He stated he asked her to even call me, return my calls, give me an apology or something, she declined. What kind of management is this i guess because I was leaving the issue was resolved in there eyes, why do anything she went back to Canada. I believe I deserve a discount for the portion of housekeeping I did not receive. The fact the the so called General Manger will not return any of my calls tells me what kind of people they are. The houses there are nice but the management and on site staff are unprofessional and need to organize themselves. Up to now still no call.
Nice Place, but a little out of the way
I stayed at the Resort 4/16 & 4/17, 2004. Rented the 3 bedroom townhouse. The resort is brand new and much of it is still under construction. The townhouse we stayed in was beautiful and quite spacious. It was a bit of a drive from the airport - the estimated travel time from the website is 30 minutes, but it actually took about 50 minutes - this was around 5 in the afternoon. A major negative was the LACK OF LAND TELEPHONE LINES. We also didn't recieve housekeeping service as we were told we would. The maids just dropped off towels. I wouldn't mind staying here again, but not until it's completed.
Very nice. But out of the way.
Booked through Expedia. Enjoyed our stay. Beds were very comfortable. Home was spacious. We reserved a 5 bedroom for 5 people. In hindsight, would have chosen the 4 bedroom, which comes with a King Size bed in the master.
Highlands Reserve is about 10 miles from the intersection of 192 and 4. There is a Publix at the end of the road, convenient for frugal travelers who like to cook there own meals on vacation. For us, we prefer more stuff nearby.
Warning for late arrivals: the "front desk" is a real estate office that closed before we arrived at 6PM. We had to call the emergency contact number repeatedly before getting a hold of someone who gave us the code to a lock box for directions and a key. The package required a $250 security deposit within 24 hours of arrival, which is not disclosed on Expedia.
Also be advised: checkout is 11AM (not noon, as advertised). Housekeeping showed up at 10:45. When we returned the key, the front desk would not (or could not) provide us with a travel receipt... which I thought was strange.
Overall, the weather was great and our stay was pleasant.
Beautiful Townhome & Quiet Area
After countless searches on Expedia, Travelocity, Hotels--- and the use of Tripadvisor quick check, I finally settled in to Regal Palms. I was only staying two nights and wanted a place where it would be clean, nice and comfortable like home. I had just recently stayed at the Bahama Bay Condo on my last two visits to Florida within the last year and wanted to find some other place comparable for this visit. I got a good price from Hotels--- and when I checked in, they must have upgraded me to the 4 bedroom/3.5 bathroom townhome. This place was so brand new that the phone lines were not installed yet. I was told by the reservations clerks in the check in office that all should be operational by 2004. The townhome subdivision is in a gated community and off I27 which is off I92. Not far from all the parks. Right down the street was a Publix which is great since the townhome had a full complete kitchen and washer and dryer. This place would be perfect for any couples or families that do not want to stay in a hotel and rather have the comforts of home.
It was the BEST !!!!
This is a beautiful new facility. What a wonderful surprise to find such a nice place to stay and the price was great.

... we will be going back to this one next time.
At about lunch time a storm set in so we went to the Captain America dinner for a bite to eat, hoping it would pass by the time we had eaten! Unfortunately this wasn't the case and as the rides have to stop while there is thunder and lighting, we thought we would get home. After running through the rain and the park we got back to the car and headed back.
Very long day so maybe a chill out day ...
... champagne were circulated, and Lynn proposed a toast to all. She thanked the crew and all of us, and then Doyle took the microphone to thank Lynn, Leslie and John for a great effort and expedition. Everyone clapped on touchdown. We bid farewell to our awesome crew, which was hard and emotional. Holly had crocodile tears, and they weren't from Tanzania...... :-)
We landed in Orlando early at about 3:35PM and went through US Immigration. ...
... shorts - luckily there were some reasonably tasteful ones on offer and we didn't have to resort to ones with Mickey Mouse all over (although Peter had to resort to Spongebob boxer shorts!). We left there and heading to City Walk next door with all the shops and restaurants. Just at that point the heavens opened and when I say opened I really really mean it. An unbelievable storm ...
... bacon burger, I had a portabello mushroom burger with safarai fries (rainforest even manage to charge you $1.99 to upgrade to fries!) The children had kids meals - Scott was still suffering a little and had chicken breast and a banana (v strange for him to choose fruit!). Duncan had nuggets and corn (he decided he LOVES corn and please can we have it at home!) Gareth had and Lara had nuggets with kettle ...
... park, wandering around without too much hurry or stress. We did a few rides, sat and animal (and people) watched for a while, saw a couple of shows and had some food. The weather was nice, the crowds were big and the lines long but it was nice to be back here again. Tea was at Boma, an African inspired buffet. As usual, the food was amongst the most interesting to be had in Disney World. Finally, a reasonably early night and no early morning the next ...
