... devistated by hurricane Iniki in 1992 and has never been rebuilt. I have managed to get a tour of the grounds on several occasions, including access to the bedrooms, the lobby, Elvis's bungalow and the little chapel. It's so sad to see it in a state of disrepair. I did see it in it's former glory in 1991 but it was a fleeting visit as part of an organised tour.

... the afternoon at the pool. It was scorching hot. Oh well... back to reality soon. Better start packing. What will I miss about this place? Absolutely everything - the smell of the flowers, constant bird song (including chickens), the beautiful deep blue sky, the glint of the sun on the pacific ocean, the sense of freedom... the list is endless.
I doubt I'll be able to make entry now until I get home but will finish it off then. Aloha!

... got back. Apparently the previous guests had left a bit of a mess and it had taken her over two hours to clean the place. I unpacked the groceries and put some washing in then there was a knock on the door. It was Gloria, the housekeeper, saying she had forgotten to leave an orogarmi turtle and came in armed with towels. She then proceeded to show me how to make it. She was already a half hour late leaving work so it was good of her ...
... The one I liked best was "Elvis had NOT left the islands." Shame they only had XXL and XS. Will call in again on another day and see if they have the right size. Next stop, Princeville Centre for gas. This gas guzzling monster I'm driving cost me $40 to fill up from half. It's as bad as at home! I couldn't resist calling in at Lapperts icecream shop and had a scoop of lilikoi sorbet and one of mango in a waffle cone. Best sorbet I've ...
