... a browse through their beer selection and as I was doing so the waitress extolled the virtues of the Aventinus Eisbock.
She said it was a 12% beer that still had a Belgian fruity quality but with the 12% kick.
Had to give it a go and after half a glass on top of the 9% tripel I just had before am really feeling that kick as I write this!!!
Lucky she gave me some bread and crisps to go with the beer...

... of a day it was outside).

After spending a good amount of time enjoying the view, we headed back down toward the river, winding our way down little stairs and hills, until we were next to the Ponte Vecchio. At this point, Steve broke off again to find a place to eat, while the girls strolled in and out of shops just taking in the scenery. Later, we met up with Steve and headed back to the hostel for the night in preparation of the big day ahead.

Thanksgiving

... Cranberry Sauce, Stuffing, Potatoes, and Mixed Vegetables. For dessert pumpkin pie, ice cream, and apple cider! It was nice to spend the night with classmates and a few professors.

Friday night, we had yet another Thanksgiving with all of my friends. Everyone prepared their favorite dish and we spent the night telling stories of our families Thanksgivings.

Cooking Class

Hi Everyone!

After an exhausting weekend in Brussels, I was in for yet another treat with cooking classes in Florence. Organized by my school, a group of us met with a chef for some lessons.

We were taught how to prepare typical Tuscan cuisine including Ribollita and Stuffed zucchini-flowers.

Everything was delicious & I look forward to trying these recipes at home!

More art, more culture, more hassle

... some time there in 1968, so the main aim of the trip was to see a few items which we had not seen previously and to revisit some old favourites. In that respect it was a successful day. Our main target was the Museo dell' Opere del Duomo, where many sculptures and panels from the Duomo and the Baptistery are stored for safekeeping from the elements. Of special interest were the Pieta by Michelangelo, his last work, unfinished, and ...

... conversation with us and found that she was an American who had been living in Siena for 10 years. We asked her what made her stay and she said that she had fallen in love with an Italian. She added that she had a circle of American girlfriends all of whom had married Italians. This gave Kathie more fuel to her worries about Rachel doing the same thing if she took a trip to Italy.

Once back in Arbia, we rested, went to the wine party near the pool then onto dinner. We had ...

... to their students. He wrote it "with his friends" and says "I think it's the best textbook out there." In his defense, though, he does have extremely dry humor that is to the point of being hard to read. Most of his jokes go unlaughed at, either because the students don't think he's joking or because they are like me and just plain don't like it. I hope I get over this thing soon, if only so that you all don't have to dredge through it. My Italian class is ...

... for 24 hours to make sure their conditions didn't worsen. We took turns watching the girls. I read my book and magazines while I sat in the room with the girls. They slept most of the day. Had a couple hours break and went with the rest of the group to shop at a market. Went back to the hotel and sat with the girls for the rest of the day.

... let 30 people go up at a time. It was fantastic. As you walk up the stairs you can see and feel the lean. It was really weird. The views were great! We took lots of photos espically the classic photo of us holding up the tower! We were a bit rushed because we had to get back in time to catch our next train to Naples. There was a train strike on that day so our train back was cancelled. Luckly we were able to re book on a later train.
