#0133 Slorkram Village Siem Reap, Cambodia, 855-63-760-475-
Our time in Siem Reap was all about the temples/Wats. It is a massive World Heritage site, built in the 12th century. It is somewhere that we have been before, but decided to revist on this trip as it was so awe-inspiring the first time. Angkor Wat is a great source of Cambodian pride - it appears on the national flag and on all their currency and is the best preserved temple in the area. One morning, we managed to get up at 4.30AM to see the sun rise over Angkor Wat. However, decided to take...
Siem Reap, Cambodia candcthaiSavin, our Tuk Tuk Driver from yesterday took us out of town to Tonle Sap - a massive lake which recedes with the dry season - to see the people that live on the water. Tonle Sap grows to about 16,000km2 and shrinks to less hat 3,000km2 in the dry season. The Mekong reverses into this lake, to fill it and then in the dry season the lake provides about half the water for the Mekong flow. Many villages and their people live on the water - you can see grounded boats and homes in the dry season. ...
Siem Reap, Cambodia candcthai Maaaaan it’s been a long day!
Got to Angkor for about 5.15am. It’s quite strange as there aren’t actually any instructions in what to do – we ‘’just followed the crowd at chow time sir!’’ There are no sign boards or lights to guide you along the path, which being old is quite uneven. As you look to Angkor Wat you can see the towers dominating the skyline - you walk along a path, over a bridge and from that point we made our way over to th...
After a lovely long sleep we got up showered and went out for breakfast. We decided that today we would walk into town and have a look around there for something to eat. As we left around 10 is its still quite cool out even though the sun is shining so it’s a nice walk. We decided on a place called CENTRAL CAFÉ. It’s quite a modern place, cream coloured, exposed brick, rattan furniture, bug whirring fans. Niiice.
I had, you guessed it pancakes and fruit, DK had cinnamon to...
We arrived in Siem reap at 17.30. Everything went smoothly. We needed to pay 20 US dollar for the visa in Siem Reap (and we will pay 25 US dollar when we go out). As soon as we went out of the airport we met a young Norwegian couple who are travelling around the world, really interesting: they have lot of time but no much money ... well, I have no time but money ... I am thinking about asking for a permission at work to travel during 3 months ... the time may will give me this opportunity ......
Siem Reap, Cambodia perez_rI left my hotel in Kuala Lumpur at 4:30 in the morning in a drenching rainstorm. It is a 60 minute trip by taxi from downtown to the airport. Not much traffic though at that time of the day. Most normal people wouldn't be up at that time or worse yet, just going to bed! After finding my way around the AirAsia terminal, which is not that easy to do, I got on the plane and had a very comfortable to Siem Reap. The countryside from the South China Sea to Siem Reap in the North of Cambodia is most...
Siem Reap, Cambodia tmsrossI've now been here 3 days and what a 3 days its been. Sameth, my tuk-tuk driver meets me every morning at my hotel at 8 am to take me to the Angkor Temple sites. This area is HUGE! Buildings that are over a thousand year old are everywhere. They are indiscribeable! Pictures don't even do them justice. They are so complex and built on such a large scale. The biggest site is that of Angkor Wat. It has a moat around it that is 1.2 km long on each of the 4 sides and it is as wide as a huge river....

The morning after the typhoon I went out and bought 200 lbs of rice, many vegetables, fish, and fruit. I went out into Treak Village and distributed much of it, and then brought the remainder back to the hotel. The hotel I'm staying in has contributed about $1800 for for food for the poor, and guests have also contributed funds - about $700. The hotel pooled the money and bought a large amount of food, and added in what I had ...

Passiamo la serata in centro e prima di tornare in stanza, facciamo un giro a piedi tra le vie piene di locali di recente apertura e di turisti.
