Woke up to a visit from Santa that saw Eli get a super large calculator and some PSP games - she is now both happy and busy! Had breakfast, picked up the washing and Eli and I went for a swim. Had a walk around and got measured for suits and then back to the hotel for a sleep. Out for dinner then an early night in preparation for tomorrow. A quiet Christmas but nice to be able to go for a swim on Christmas Day!

Another early morning for our tour. After a minibus ride of a little over two hours we got to out first activity; white water rafting. The equipment was a bit substandard and the safety briefing ineffective but the local guides knew the river and with two guides per raft, the risk of running grade 2+ and 3 rapids was OK (being a former white water rafting guide I'm particular about this type of thing). Day one of my Open Water Diving course. The day got off to a bad start as the reception got the message wrong and told me that it would be a 8.30am pick up when it was really a 9.30am pick up. Our plan for today was to head to Patong Beach - roasting on sunbeds whilst munching on concertos and chilling out in the cool, clear waters .
