Jalan Danau Paso No.87 Bali, Indonesia, 361-283200
We stayed in Bali for a couple of days before heading back to Australia. It was time for me to catch up with Made a young man that I met a couple of years earlier when he was our private tour guide/driver. We developed a friendship and after getting to know him I decided to help him pay for his education. He had worked to put his sisters through their schooling and now it was his turn. He was doing an Agricultural course. Things were a bit tough for many in Bali after 2002 as the tourist num...

... dance all together.....it was exactly that!!!! For those that havnt seen, it was an hour and a half of 'chuka chuka chuka'. But it did finish with a man walking on burning coconut shells.
It was then time to say goodbye to Suzie back in Kuta. We now had a week of relaxation and sunbathing left in Bali. This ended up being a week of us taking it in turns to be ill. We both had visits to the doctors – and a week of antibiotics each. Beckie with the ...
... seeing the garden of the villa decorated, I was amazed at how many flowers you can get for $300 in Bali. They might not have been flowers I would’ve chosen but there were flowers EVERYWHERE! From the standing aisle runner centerpieces to the floating candle center pieces in the pool to the flower petal covered pool deck and garden, there were so many flowers. Even our own villa’s room had been decorated with flower arrangements on the four posters ...
Bali, Indonesia aliciay98... Low and behold, 15 minutes later, we see Steve walking up to us in a staggering, hungover daze. He apparently lost Matt the night before at the bar, woke up at 7am and came to the airport to buy a ticket, went back home and crashed for three hours and made his way back to the airport. Impressive. We were excited to be traveling to Lombok together. Our plane did not reach an incredibly high cruising altitude, given the 20 minute length of the flight ...
Kuta, Bali, Indonesia chiapoe... more relaxed, cheaper and plenty of nice restaurants. We spent the rest of our time surfing, swimming and eating chicken satay (that would include Heli too, who is no longer vegetarian!).
Bali, Indonesia lukeheli... We took a bike tour the next day. Our guide drove us through the countryside and we had breakfast overlooking Mt. Batur. There were 3 Australians and 2 other Americans from California on our Bike Baik tour. Our next stop was a Balinese coffee plantation. They showed us various fruits grown there and how they roast the coffee beans. We also learned about a special coffee bean that is used from the poop of a fox. The fox eats the bean and goes ...
Ubud, Bali, Indonesia gringowithdrawl... sight for the day was one of Bali's famous volcanoes. The bus dropped us off at a restaurant on the edge of a gigantic caldera with a large volcano in its center. To the right of the volcano there was a pristine blue lake filling up part of the caldera's floor with a huge mountain -- bigger than the central volcano -- towering above the lake. The overall view was just breathtaking. With much gawking and picture taking behind us we traveled to the town of Ubud. It seemed like a ...
Denpasar, Bali, Indonesia nomadic1... on the south end, was Gnarly!!) I think it ws atleast double overhead and barreling. I wasnt about to surf it, I am just not that good, well not even half as good as I need to be to surf in those conditions. The Gili Islands was paradise to say the least!! I learned to scuba dive there and it was ideal scuba conditions with visibilty like 35 meters on somedays! I cant believe I have never gotten my scuba certification. It just opened this huge door for ...
Bali, Indonesia itenerant78... a soup, various satays, some rice, some salady things and a black rice pudding, which was exceptionally sweet. After a bit more shopping in the afternoon, we went to a few surf equipment rental shops to ask about getting some surfing lessons. A place called Tubes, down the pleasantly named 'Poppies II Lane', had been recommended to us, but when we spoke to them, the staff gave no recognition of the hotel and bar ever having included a surf school. Strange. We spoke to ...
Kuta, Bali, Indonesia jacobandkirsty... of the witch and jumped into loud convulsions. this caused quite a stir as the men then jumped up to tackle the boy and hold him down. it started happening all around us and we wondered if we should be concerned. soon the tiger and witch disappeared in the crowd and bundles of bamboo were lit on fire. the boys were then let up and ran at the fire in an effort to drive out the spirit of the witch. after running through the fire he was caught by many men and ...
