Got up midly hungover and out driver was a touch early, said our goodbyes to everybody and popped down the road to get a tour round a tea factory by a young lad who really new his stuff and explained it really well. ... we stumbled down the main road to have breakfast - a king coconut (always wanted to drink from one - tasted like the water you peel your potatoes into) and a piece of cheese on toast! Pretty heavenly!

The rest of the day was spent shopping, sunbathing and swimming in the fantastic blue sea. I have never seen a place so tropical and beautiful. The people are also so kind and friendly - not as pushy as I imagined (with regards to selling things). I got some tea ...

... find the maritime museum at the fort, unfortunately it was apparently shut (as it was the previous day) so after a little shopping (post cards) we ended up in Mama's roof top restaurant for beers at about 15:30! It was tipping with rain - so not too much fun sight seeing. Great conversation and laughs and photos! After a couple of Lion beers and chips we headed to Unawatuna beach, and the Lucky Tuna bar and restaurant. No one else seemed to want to swim, it ...

... on the ground and decided to investigate. To my pure delight it was not one but two newly hatch Olive Ridley sea turtles making their way down to the sea. In talking to one of the guys I learned the eggs (about 150 of apparently) were moved to this location by locals as the original nest was nearby a bunch of boats that get dragged in and out every day and was not safe. ... It does feel very touristy though as I've seen plenty of large, tanned Europeans taking up all the sun loungers. I'm hoping this won't have too much of an impact on the prices of the nearby restaurants.

This past week has been very much a relax and do nothing holiday. Some people may find it a bit boring but I'm having a great time. I'm making the most of my time by the beaches. I'm planning on doing more activities when I get to India.
