    strange fogs, whirlpools, magnetic anomalies, and strange sea monsters - none of that -well we saw 4/5 pilot whales about 300m ahead and then the seas started to build and we were slamming loads.

    tide rolls back in. His dinghy is trapped under the wood! Worse, the tide forced his engine under the salt water. He had to let the air out of the boat, effectively sinking it to get it out. He could have waited 6 hours for the tide to fall, but the damage to his boat pounding under
    the dock would have been catastrophic.
