New Daraphet Villa Hotel Luang Prabang

... the night with in Jakarta Airport over three months before and he was now headed the opposite way to us through Laos. We spent a nice evening with him swapping travel stories and trying some of the local delicacies (sweet fried sun dried buffalo, steamed river fish in banana leaf and Mekong&#8216;seaweed&#8217; &#8211; which is really dried out sheets of algae from the rive).<br><br>

... but it was too slow for me. <br><br>A very busy city. We were taken to the downtown area and I found a hotel which was reasonable but no air con rooms available so a fan room had to do. Very French with bakeries nearby. <br><br>The usual markets but nearby is also an NGO which looks after street kids and has a restaurant for tourists as a way of raising money. It was quite expensive. Not much to see decided to head of to CAmbodia.

... with only a smattering of wooden stilted villages that have passed by almost before we&#8217;ve noticed them. Further towards the border the scenery grew more dramatic, with rows of jagged limestone cliffs rising up through the greenery and lining the horizon, with isolated outcrops intermittently jutting up to loom over the lower lying hills. <br><br> We stopped at a local market where all sorts of weird and wonderful ...

... what HUGE schlongs they have!!!!!!<br> <br>Apparently, elephants find mates like humans and although there are females on the island -the male wont mate with them cos it isnt true love!!! Awww!!<br> <br>Basically we paid money to love the elephants up close and personal for 3 days...... It was perfect!<br> <br>We bathed the elephants a total of 5 times!!!!<br> <br>We took lush photos and so pleased we went.<br> <br>Love lots<br><br>Charlise++++

... is great! We have even forgone the airconditioning in our room, we just have a fan and it is still quite pleasant. The streets are peaceful, quiet, and NO BEEPING HORNS!! You can walk on the footpath(!!) without having to dodge parked up motorcycles, or you can walk on the road without dodging vehicles.<br><br>Went for a walk this afternoon and there were kids playing ...

With many a bad habit coming out from the boys and late night arrivals from nights out, she swiftly departed on the 2nd day, never to be seen again! Was i concerned? No!
