But did we have fun watching three feet of snow fall in three days. Simply amazing to our southern eyes. Today we trek on. Next stop a park outside of Gunnison, ...

We slept a night in Denver airport to save money, mingled with the homeless community while waiting for a place to stay, and wrote poetry for complete strangers which brightened them up to no end.
Our destination was Frisco: a town 2 hours west of Denver at the base of Arapahoe Basin and Keystone mountains. We spent 4 hours trying to hitchhike out there and was eventually ...

... never do the same run twice. There is a great hike, if you are interested in hiking, just above the den. It is about a 20 to 30 minute hike to the top. It is well worth it for the site seeing.

While you are at Keystone, when you get to the top of the first peak, there is a great view of Breckenridge. You can see every peak Breckenridge ski area has to offer. It is absolutely beautiful.

wondering what lies beyond it if I were to continue on the trail, one which
continues on for many miles and goes much higher. I’ve spent a lot of time skiing
in Vail over the years but have often wondered what lies further north of I-70,
one of those pockets of terra incognita in my Colorado travels. Someday I’ll
make it up the dirt road from Vail to Piney Lake in that area.

... before some real hiking. We took the night in Breckenridge fairly easy
in preparation for our more strenuous hikes in the days ahead, in contrast to
our usual boozy reunions. Doug was quite unimpressed with the Italian
restaurant he chose in Breckenridge, one not memorable enough for me to recall
the name, but he’s from the East Coast and a bit of an Italian food snob.
