Every region of Japan is known for a specific craft. The Hankone area is well known for mosaic woodworking called Hakone Yosegi Zaiku. We visit a small store with a workshop on the 2nd floor and meet the owner and 7th generation master craftsman. He shows us how his products are made and it’s just amazing. ... and we drive to station 5, which is at 7K feet. Cars are not allowed beyond station 5 so to get to the summit at just over 12K feet, you have to climb it. Climbing is only allowed in July and August and most people climb during the nighttime to get to the summit to enjoy the sunrise.
