Being able to have an onsen first thing in the morning is fantastic! The other side is that if you want to shower at this guesthouse you have to sign out an onsen anyways as these are where the showers are located so I figured why not have a soak first.

Half of today was consumed with travel. Nevertheless, we left at 9 am from Nikko and we took a slow train, two bulletin trains, and a bus and still managed to get to our guest house in Hakone by 2:30 PM. The Japanese transportation system is fantastic! The first train left about 7 minutes late and we had about 15 minutes between each train and they all left on time. We walked about half way around the crater and then climbed up to the highest point in all of Japan which happens to be the weather observatory. We made it just before sunrise which was about 4:47 AM. We lucked out and had an amazing sunrise, something that is never a guarantee when you climb the mountain. Eventually the bus came and we all woke up in time to get tickets and get aboard, and then I was asleep until two hours later when we arrived at the bus station in Tokyo. We all headed to our hotel that we had booked for the night, and had naps. Then we all met back up again to go to Shibooya to see the massive crosswalk and the starbucks and had dinner.
