... and was met by a monkey sat at my head height it gave me a bit of a scare! I didn't really realise quite how free to roam about they would be! The main attraction of the park is the onsen(hot water caused by volcanic activity) which the snow monkeys use to keep themselves warm during the harsh winters in Northern Japan. Apparently it is the only place in the world where monkeys are known to do this, and is subsequently often seen ...

Went back to the train station and bought my Mos burger lunch. I kept looking at my watch as we had to meet up at the train station at 1.55pm and it was already 1.47pm. They asked what time my train was and I had to point to the hands on my watch. They seem to understand and I received my lunch with 3 minutes to spare.
... each and we had about 5 taxis to accommodate 21 people.
We caught the train to Matsumoto and then changed to go to Nagano. All this was on the local train and not the Shinkansen. By the time we reached the hotel, it was 8.15pm. We couldn't be bothered with dinner by that point and basically did the laundry and went to bed.
The next morning, we are due to go back to Matsumoto again to see the castle there.

We returned to the hotel for a nap. The bad thing about staying at a ryokan is that there is no bed. The futons are rolled up during the day and rolled out for us during dinner. Joseph and to drag out two futons for me to nap in. Slept for about an hour and woke up just in time to have a shower and to go down for ...
... and I didn't touch and dessert was mango pudding and some small Japanese plums that tasted like a mix between plums and grapes. Joseph and the pudding and I had his plums.
After dinner, it was back to the room for more laundry. The staff had made our beds up and rolled out the futons. I should have placed another mattress underneath. Just having only one futon was a little hard. It will be two tomorrow night.
