    Occupied by farm selectors in 1884, the first township in the area was Bunya Creek. The opening of the Mary Valley railway to Kandanga in 1914 led to the formation of a township around the station. Before then there existed only a basic rural community; a school (1900), a Union church at Bunya Creek (1905), a blacksmith, a store and the Kandanga Farmers Association.

    ... can't see the bottom. Everyone watching and laughing as we pussy foot in. After a little swim we get out and notice that as the watcer is very acidic our skin and hair is great. But strange. Like the water didn't feel like water haha hard to explain. Back on the boat for a trip back as we arrive back we get back in the car with moany Steve and then see a strange dog being walked flowed by a bloke walking his kid followed by a girl ...

    ... so my stuff wasn’t fully dried so I had to hang some of them in my room. I asked the boys not to mind my “personal items” hanging out… and they were okay with it. Later that night I got myself a beer and was just drinking out in the yard when the Brit came with a pitcher of beer and started talking non-stop to me. Then his Aussie mates came with a pitcher, then more people came and we were all just drinking and they kept offering me beer so ...

    ... Woops. We ended up venturing into the pelican waters resort and grabbing some lunch and drink in their version of weatherspoons, then finished the walk and ended up in a little park area where we could wait for blue kayak tours to meet us. We had been told that we might not be the only ones on the tour but when dean the instructor turned up we found out that it would be just the two of us.
