Knai Bang Chatt Kep

... off a tummy bug.
We did very little in the afternoon as I was weak and tired (having not eaten anything in two days) and only managed to keep down a plate of chips before bed.

20th November

Feeling better but still very drained we took it easy and wondered slowly around Kep. The water front along our hotel had no beach to speak of and the locals at the nearby Crab Market had a made a mess of the ocean. The area was very peaceful and attractive, but was missing ...

... we finally came to a small roadside shop, selling ... pepper! The guy there spoke a little English, and said follow me and I'll show you my plantation. He hopped onto his bike, and we blasted off into the bush trying hard to keep up as we passed through farms, over streams before finally reaching a very regularly arranged pepper plantation. The plants are grown in a manner reminiscent of wine grapes. The farmer picked us some sprigs and we munched raw green ...

... wir also faules Strandleben direkt vor der Hütte mit türkisblauem Wasser, Sonne, Palmen, Sand sowie jeder Menge Massage-Ladies und Jungs, die uns ständig irgendwelche Touren andrehen wollen. It rained on the way so we were a bit apprehensive about the weather on the island, the journey only took 1.5hours and before we knew it we were surrounded by mini bus drivers wanting to take us to the beach side hotels. We eventually found the cheaper end of the beach after trekking on the beach with our big ...

... a few beers and drink Saigon for 10,000VND (0.34GBP!).
The next day we wake up late and spend the day biking around the countryside (around 10km in all) seeing the Mui Nei coastline and a pagoda in a cave. Both, very nice. The cave with the pagoda was filled with bats and had some nice views out over Vietnam and Cambodia. We then head back and book our tickets to the island of Phu Quoc tomorrow.

16th August
Had a line in till 9 and got ready to hire a tuk tuk to take us to Kep, a tuk tuk followed us to our hotel and said he would charge $10. We packed our stuff, checked out and I asked the owner what should the price of a tuk tuk be to Kep, he said $7 and he would call me one. We then went out to the other driver who was waiting for us and I said I wasn't happy and that he was trying to rip us off and I said a fair price was $7, he refused to ...

... him where we agreed to meet- I have to say, credit goes to Alyson's angry side for the next bit (nicknamed Debrah in honour of the lady off Dragon's Den)- she gave him a bit of a verbal kicking and we left him speechless before aranging another tuk-tuk through the hotel for 7USD.
Arriving in Kampot we find that we have to pay 10USD a room here, as cheap accomadation is rare. Grr...But the hotel is nice and we spend the ...

The first temple I come to is the Bayon Temple of Angkor Thom. The Bayon is a well-known and decorated Khmer temple built in the late 12th century or early 13th century. The Bayon's most distinctive feature is the multitude of serene and massive stone faces on the many towers which jut out from the upper terrace. We had thought about travelling around the island to BAI DAI beach so might go there later, in fcat i think this is the reason that we came here, DK had read about it ...
