The adventure begins

... just say I was glad we had a beer chaser. I’m still on work body clock and waking up early and being a bit of a piker at night. I managed to sleep in to ten to 8 this am so hopefully will last a bit longer tonight. Albert’s befriended one of the staff members here – apparently he hates the Beatle, so he’s hung out with him the past couple of nights while I’ve been passed out on the couch. I’ve managed to be pretty ...

An encounter with flesh eating fish!

... It was wonderful, we went bloody high, Max's landing was ok, but Trudy nearly didn't come down as she wasn't heavy enough to pull down on the ropes, with the thought of going up again she curled her body to one side, the guys managed to grab a leg and pull her safely down. Sorry Ben but your mum looks 'special' again in the gear!!
Had a dreadful time trying to get Lady Di on camera, however ...

Ah Bali, My New Love

... referral fee. Always ask specifically for the airline counter.

On our flight over to Bali, we met this really cool Balinese kid named Eka. 6'4" and by far the biggest Indonesian we have seen. He was really helpful and we actually shared a cab to Kuta, where we planned to find a hotel. The key to having the local connections, you pay local prices, and you get real authentic Indo food. On our way to Kuta, we stopped at a small restaurant to eat ...

Lovina: Beachside Bliss

... what we did? Pool again. This is starting to sound repetitive! We started to get into a (blissful) routine of lying by the pool, eating at our local restaurant (the 'Astina'- we became recognised regulars!) and going out for a few beers at night. Slightly more exciting was my morning walk around the town looking for postcards. First, I was accosted by loads of Balinese teenagers celebrating the end of their school year- and a few of them made me ...

Traveling to Uluwatu/Kuningan

... into my head, disrupting any peaceful thoughts. We set out on our motor bikes for the two hour trek to the southern end of the island to go to Uluwatu, the surfer's paradise that we had heard about. And amazingly, it actually only took us two hours! We didn't get lost at all, even somehow finding the shortcut way! Okay... so Julia was leading the way, but still it made us finally feel a little better about our navigation skills ...

Paradis?

The Australian Ibiza

... it. However, it wasn't long before I was getting up and staying up for a while. Day 1 was a steep learning curve. I had learnt to stand up. Which is in education terms the same as learning to write. I spent nearly 3 hours on the surf before coming in and nearly collapsing. After this lesson Will and Webby had agreed to meet me on 'Gerger' beach. Ok sounds fun. A beach somewhere - I'll just ask at the tourist office. Well when I asked he looked at me as if ...

Ubud - Bali

... the monkeys watching them jump on people and scaring the wits out of them. By noon there were plenty of the day-trip tourists from other parts of the island and it was a little bit on the crowded side. I had already taken almost 300 pictures at this point because I was worried that they would not be turning out so great with the low light conditions. At noon the sun was high and I could find monkeys in the sun-light, so I guess coming to this park later has its ...

Bali

Ahhhhhhhhh...........Ubud.

... the same , mine is closest to town, is the smallest, and the cheapest. I got even luckier when I arrived, even though there is some construction on the property ( no noise at my place which is great!) that means that there is only 3 places that have guests from the usual 6...so its even more private. Words can even begin to describe my place.....wow...!!!!! The first night I stayed in the bottom floor of the villa, it has 3 ...
