    Rarotonga – Aitutaki

... the day we all tried to walk around the island to the central lagoon and it took the best part of 3 hours. (This is a bit of an estimate, as about three quarters of the way round some Cook Islanders in a pick up truck took pity on us , and offered us a ride to the end of road.). The drive to the guesthouse is also very nostalgic and about as scenic as a road can be. - You just have to imagine you are driving on a virtually deserted road through a lush tropical garden ...

    ... from the past.

Everyone who visits Aitutaki either stays at one of the resorts or flies in for the lago on tour. We were not doing either, we needed a ride to “town” so we could rent a scooter and see the island on our own. We rented a scooter from ...

19 october Flight to Aitutaki , just 40 minutes. Beautiful view from the plane over this magnificant atoll. Our beach huts are quite rustic, made from palm wood and leavesz, with a view directly to the lagoon. 20/21 October Cruising over the island with our vespa. Not much other to see than the beautiful lagoon, white beaches and lush palm forest. There are in total 5 places where you ...

... was being built but just wandered past and down the other side to the main road where I began my long walk. Well it would have been a long walk but these island folk are just too nice to let people wander around. A pick up truck stopped alongside me and he asked where I was going, I said around to the resort and he said to jump in and took me around. Excellent stuff, more time to annoy the rich people. I took a look at the island from a distance but thought I'd get ...
