... crocodiles, a sloth, an anteater, a coati, lots of different birds (including toucans, herons, egrets, and macaws), several frogs, lizards, snakes, monkeys, and lots of bugs. Transport out involved a motorbike ride to Agujitas, a boat through the mangroves (quite different to the mangroves in NZ) to Sierpe, and then a ride in the car the family from Colorado had parked in Sierpe to Uvita. -Lodging is cheap. Our lakefront hotel room in Flores, Guatemala was nice and cost $12/night and you can find rooms as low as $6/night.

-They usually don't ask for ID, name, or any paperwork.

-Hotels have electricity hooked to the shower-head to offer hot water showers. Yikes!

-In Guatemala, the hamburger meat is not from a cow. It is from a bull. It is tough and doesn't taste ...

... we got a few things to make guacamole. It wasn't quite as good as Kristy's because we didn't bother buying coriander and garlic but we will definitely be making it in Oz. The food on our travels has been really good and we certainly won't be that bothered about going to Mexican/ Latin American restaurants in England they are definitely not up to par. We stopped first at the elementary a school of 34 pupils from age 6 to 12 who were very excited to see us, even though we were early. They performed the ceremony of the flag and sang the CR National Anthem which they do every week with or without visitors, then performed some National dances in National costumes, one of which of course we had to join in!
