Our favourite place in Thailand

Bleary eyed and a little bit dazed, we landed on the shores of Koh Phangan with Domingo in tow; we headed towards our favourite place on the island Haad yao, which is very nice indeed. Buzzing with the excitement of meeting up with Tom & Pat we checked ourselves into High Life Bungalows ready for the chill that lay ahead. The resort was recommended by our friends Craig and Cathy and it overlooked the sea. Domingo and I headed off to set about getting ourselves some motorbikes. Mine was **** s...

Full Moon action

Our first stop on our island tour. Stayed up north at a little secluded place called "Highlife". Paid $3.50 for a bungalow overlooking the ocean. GORGEOUS!! Went to the infamous full moon party on the 14th. It's where thousands (literally several thousand people) come to the beach and every bar and resturant is serving drinks and playing music. People dancing all over the place! Definitely some crazy things happening. We just took pictures of all the stupid people! However, we can't post the ...

Stairway to heaven

Nigel: We wanted to go to Koh Phangnan so that we had been to all 3 main islands on the East coast of Thailand. We tried to get to the island earlier but booking accommodation was a problem due to the famous full moon party that takes place there every month. We arrived again by boat but on this occasion, the hotel that we booked with wasn't there to pick us up. After we managed to get the phone to work and had stopped being hassled by some crazy women trying to give us a lift, our pick up ar...

Old hippes, jungle walking, and some party...

It hasn't been that long since I wrote something into the travel log, but it feels like such a lot has happened that I've decided to make another entry, plus I'm in a writing mood so I thought why not.... Since arriving on Koh Phanang I've ceertainly had my share of time spent/wasted in a hammock thinking about how hot and humid it is and how important it is to conserve energy in this climate. However, in recent days my motivation has hit all time heights of (6/10 on the normal scale... 5 on ...

ok so this is attempt number two for this blog as it seems i've just wasted the last 20 minutes as attempt number one didn't want to save! thursday 20 november today marked our last day in vietnam before heading over the border to cambodia, and being that we would have to be up early the next day, we spent the day chilling out, sorting out money for a new country and booking our bus. a little uneventful for me as i spent most of the afternoon blogging but sean finally managed to get his trip ...

Koh Tao Day 159 (26th Oct)

... then you can shake a stick at and plenty of booze-fuelled dancing. Steve, Lenny and me had lost the Chileans and Julien, but gof chatting with some girls and eventually went on the dance floor to party. A lot of people were covered in fluorescent paint and dancing, but many of them seemed not to be mingling a great deal. Despite there being 2,000-3,000 people I felt underwhelmed as I was expecting a much greater number of people and it to be a bit more insane ...

Diving: DAY 1

... met in Penang, randomly spotted us and came to say hello The sunsets viewed from Sairee Beach are absolutely stunning, beautiful oranges and reds lighting up the clouds all around as the deep red orb of the sun gently edges towards the horizon before making its final disappearance.

In the evening, we headed to the restaurant we'd been to the night before, then had a few drinks in Chopper's Bar, but were quite tired so were back in the dorm by around eleven.

KOH TAO: Back to school

... stepped off the boat in Koh Tao we remembered the good times in Utila. So, we decided to stay.

After spending the entire month of August diving every day, we felt like we were back to being proper Divemasters and now ready to start our instructor/ course. The course takes about 3 weeks and focuses on three main parts: water skills, dive theory and academic presentations. It's fair to say that the Moronic brains were ...

More lazy days

... in the next couple of weeks to do a visa run, we need to get an extention so that will be a little adventure for us all.Apparently you get to the border, take a small boat ride across an estuary, hand over a few dollars, do a bit of shopping and then head back to get your passport stamped. We have been doing alot of snorkelling, and we went in the water just before dusk last night and saw ...

... and crisis was averted. He also found soothing words from the 40 year old hippy woman we were with. Honestly what is wrong with these people, sort yourself out, shave your legs, buy a bra, unbraid your hair and get a grip. Her words of advise included, "I know what it's like, i'm allergic to dust and get a really bad reaction when I sniff it"! Firstly, what are you doing sniffing dust you freak? Secondly, I also get a reaction from dust going up my nose...it's called sneezing dumb ass ...
