... car. I think we looked only out of habit instead out of need.
Besides the lack of people (and traffic) one of the things that really stood out was how tall the curbs were in comparison to the road. The photo of Bri with one foot on the curb and one on the road really demonstrates it best. To cross the road they had a little set of steps at each intersection to help you up and down easily.
... a sign for the Neal Smith National Wildlife Refuge and Prairie Learning Center. Peg had actually read about it in the book Off the Beaten Path that Len and Lois gave us. The Prairie Learning Center was very informative with a 15 minute video on how they were restoring the prairie in this refuge and a number of interactive exhibits. They also showed the interaction between a variety of animal species and the variety of grasslands. The refuge was 11,200 ...
... I stand still and not walk, she will go there. If I walk her, she's so busy smelling other creatures scents, that she dilly dallies and doesn't go. 3am: Stopped for the night at a rest area.Cars, tractor trailers, and campers here. Got to 1170mi. ... see Izzie. She has changed so much in the last month. At dinner, Izzie wanted Grandpa to walk her around the restaurant. She pretty much did her own walking - I held on to one hand. And her smile continues to light up our life's.
Tomorrow we celebrate her first birthday.

... Tomorrow, they will finish up the work and we will head to Iowa City. We should be in time for Izzie's birthday on the 24th.
No pictures today - I just don't get as excited about shopping as I do when we are exploring the mountains.
