This place was so gorgeous, the service and setting was perfect, the breakfast is why this fording get 4 stars!

The first day we had a fresh cooked to order breakfast, each day after that it was buffet style and so wakeful all we noticed anyone eating was the toast!

Day 1 of Padi advanced course

So, suckered into another Padi course and we couldn't be happier! This morning our two dives consist of wreck diving up to 30m, and buoyancy control, which sounds the tricky one of the two. We are doing this course with a nice Germain guy and two fun-diving Canadians who are doing a dive master course, so are coming for the fun of it! The wreck is really cool to see, half reclaimed by the underwater world ...

... we would have to demonstrate some of the skills we'd already learnt (such as mask removal, inflating BCD orally, establishing negative buoyancy etc) and some we hadn't such as navigation. The first dive was at a place called White Rock where we dove to 15m deep. White Rock is the biggest dive site on Koh Tao but unfortunately as with the previous days, the visibility was limited; coming in the middle of monsoon season though what was to be expected! We did have the option of having ...

... dinner in Koh Tao. Charlotte was thrilled to finally find somewhere selling Magners cider. After dinner we relaxed on the beach watching some very talented fire dancers before heading back to our new hostel... Unfortunately air-conditioning had not been installed and it was rather toasty to say the least! We were convinced that the building had been erected incorrectly as the outdoor air felt substantially cooler than in our sauna-like room. It was unbearable ...

Nothing to get up for in the morning so we took our time and headed to cafe del sol for a sandwich before pottering around the shops.

At 3 we met up with Zoe who we had met in Bangkok and had just arrived on the island. Mel went to meet friends (Carol and Nick from home) for drinks so me and Zoe hit the shops again and then happy hour at the cocktail bar. ...

... our hidden gem. The main beach was extremely busy and full of young Westerners. It felt extremely touristy and Westernised which we felt spoilt the beauty of the island.

With the bike in tow we soon found ourselves exploring the island and heading to the vantage point where you could see the view of the island. Afterwards Neil was determined to find a shark whilst snorkelling so we returned to the same bay as yesterday. ...
