... it finally hit me. It was my last day at the school and that I was travelling back home soon- I don't want the experience to end! Saying goodbye to all the children and all the staff I've made friends with during my placement at the school was very emotional. One of the grade 2 teachers calls me her daughter and on the last day she was begging me to stay and live with her. It's when you create such strong bonds with someone like that you start to question whether or not to stay ...

If you are ever feeling low, unattractive or sad I highly suggest a walk through a class of 16 year old Sri Lankan boys who are unaccustomed to seeing westerners, Dan and I both received quite the who boost! all throughout the day as well the local primary schools were putting in parades. The children were dressed up in traditional clothes and what appeared to be Halloween masks as they danced and sang to ...

... from another site which I found technical difficulties with but at least on that site I was not subjected to any of the opinionated negativity I have been subject to here. Nor do I wish personal friends to have to waste their time defending my writing style which I am happy with and so I shall not be continuing this blog any further. Frankly, I do not spend time putting entries together just to be told by someone I have never eve met that I waffle too much and should take ...

... day. Sri Lanka was hit hard by the tsunami, and in some ways it was damaged doubly, as I read that the post-tsunami turmoil caused the civil war to heat up again, just when it seemed like the country was on the brink of peace. Thousands more lost their lives in the next 4.5 years of war.

We also visited the maritime museum, because that's what we do in these historic Indian Ocean trade route cities. We got gelato (we were so happy to find gelato again!) ...
