    After a quick final yoghurt fruit and honey for breakky, we headed to Parikia to board a fast ferry to Rafina (mainland Greece).




    The Sea Jet - funnily enough, this ship was built in FREMANTLE!

    The journey was supposed to take about 2.5 hours.... 4 hours later, ...

    Said our farewells to everyone this morning and then we set out for the old Olympic stadium. On the way there we witnessed the changing of soldiers at their post which was kinda cool. We never did figure out what building they were guarding but I'll have to look that up. I forgot my student card for the Olympic stadium, and didn't wanna ...

    ... the sky, with their walls adorned with gold leaf paintings and silverplated icons... guarding the villages around.
    Hazel wanted just about every cat we encountered...every colour combination under the sun...and could be seen on many occasions with the cats coming for a stroke and cuddle. Peter who became the quad bike king said the best thing was the meatballs in traditional tomato sauce!!!!! Hazel writes...." What an amazing ...

    ... tasty. We eventually head back to the hotel and head out at night again, this time we stick to Olatys Gialos down the road. There are so many people around and a the restaurants are full of people. We have a late bite at Thea restaurant after watching Germany beat France 1-0 in the World Cup. Jim and I drink a bottle of red wine, our first since arriving in Greece. Beer is much better and easier to drink in the heat, but tonight it is cooler and red wine goes down really well. ...

    ... and chatted to some random people. I remember speaking to one Irish girl called Ruth - it was really strange and wonderful to hear the Irish accent again. Just as we were about to leave, I heard my name get called - it was my old childhood friend Sarah. We don't really keep in touch a whole heap now, but as children we used to see each other all the time. I can't remember not knowing her.
