We hadn't totally decided what to do with this day, so talked about a few options in the morning. Plan was to catch Big Red Bus do water cruise, visit Maktoom house and a couple of other museums, then take Red Bus to beach where I might have had a swim, Red Bus to Palm Island, then off to Burj Khalifa which is the highest building in the world for which we had tickets at 6. Then thought we could take the Red Bus to the World Village which closed at 11pm and then take a taxi back. So ...

... much all we had time and energy for. If we had longer we might have ventured to older areas of the city but all in all Dubai wasn't the place for us. ... the picture here is of my granddaughter, Claire, holding the Rotary bear in front of the Burj al Arab, Dubai, UAE.

They have done some interesting PR shots for this hotel. In 2004 they had Tiger Woods hitting shots from the helipad and in 2005 Roger Federer and Andre Agassi played tennis on the pad.

A failed bus ride to Jumeirah Beach landed me at Spinney's supermarket (Dubai's sainos), only half the way towards the beach, but a quick taxi ride later and my toes were binding with the white sand.

Windyyyyyy day!! The bad news - minor sandstorms that whipped against your skin, the good news - surfer heaven! Great view!! And that's not just because I decided to perch my new beach towel right beside the Burj Al Arab in the hope of getting snap-happy or spotting some ...
