Not enough animal viewing as the main lodge

I really pushed for this villa which sleeps eight because I thought it would be fun for all six of us ladies to be in one place. But because of its location, our view of the animals on the Serengeti was no where near as good as the view from the rooms in the main AK lodge where the animals are fed. It was a disappointment, which made it seem a not-too-good value. The room was nice, but very dark. The light fixtures are thematic and they throw very little light. I don't think I'd stay at Kidani again. The parking was limited and the trek to the lobby was a long one.

    a great place to stay

We stayed here using our DVC points. We were warmly greeted at the main entrance and were informed that our room was ready even though we arrived early. The room is fabulous. I booked a standard view to save on points but our room, 7939, has a savanna view. you can just make out the pool but there is a watering hole just beneath our balcony. There are always animals out there, especially the okapi, which is rare. So far we love this resort. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, our room was spotless. the only disadvantage is probably the lack of a quick service restaurant but Jambo house is just a 5 minute ride by courtesy shuttle.

Because we were staying on Disney property, we could take advantage of early Magic Hours at Animal Kingdom this morning. Meaning, we could get in at 8 am, a full hour before the rest of the crowd. Our plan was to depart at 7:15. We departed at 8:45. This group is a test of my organizational skills. ;-)

Nonetheless, we drove to AK, parked …

In order to make the most of EPCOT on one day, I suggested to the ladies that we needed an early departure (7:10) from the Sheraton in order to get to Animal Kingdom Lodge Kidani Village, check in, check our luggage and get to EPCOT by 9 am when it opened. Amazingly, we did depart from the Sheraton at 7:10; equally amazing it took us 90 minutes to …

... the parks, if you want decent seats you need to get there 30 minutes before the show starts, especially true for the Fantasmic Show at Disney Studios. For Fantasmic, head to the show 45 minutes earlier.

    • When going to Disney Magic Kingdom the park opening show and the end of night show are a MUST. In the morning when lining up to enter the park, make sure to take a middle line so you can easily see the opening of the park show. ...

... We just walked down the road to our real hotel, but even in the middle of the night it was incredibly hot outside and our bags were laden down with souvenirs and new clothes, so it was an effort. Then, once in our new hotel, we were greeted with an ancient TV, unusable Wi-Fi in our room, an unbearably *****y concierge, and a business centre with a printer that somehow ended up charging Kelsey $7 to print three pieces of paper. We all went to bed a little peeved, but pumped for the days ...

... feels kind of dopey. And the onslaught of merchandising everywhere is just short of being obscene. There are roughly 3 to 4 stores per actual ride. And most of them just carry the same, uninspired, merchandise. The one other exception to this (outside of WWOHP) is the Seuss's Landing...which is really well done and charming for younger kids.

At this point I should also warn you about the staff at the ...
