... is actually still active. Volcanic activity is monitored daily by geological sensors and helicopter surveys. Pretty cool!... But also kind of freaky. Don thinks they should sell shirts that said "I went to Santorini and didn't die" lol On the other side of the island opposite the cliffs, the land slopes smoothly down to the ocean and is covered in lush farmland and vineyards. ... and saw two men riding donkeys, their five dogs running calmly around them. The men were having a big conversation to each other, one hand on the rein and the other hand free for gestures. The lighthouse, when we got to it, was cute and laid right on the edge of the cliff. Santorini was spread out behind us and we climbed a hill to get a better looking, feeling the nip of the cool breeze. ... it could have been one hour difference the other way and we would have missed the flight! So we spent some happy time in the breezes bar overlooking the sea at the airport. ... so watched some tv shows on our galaxy and then boarded our plane at 3pm. Our plane was a small one and it only took half an hour to reach Santorini.
