It's 11pm, just got home from a lightish dinner - single course - a nice restaurant open air overlooking the caldera and with views in both directions along Thira. Night photos using an iPhone just don't do it justice. We saw fireworks in the distance at Oia (the Oi is pronounce as a hard E and the a is soft) which is in aid of a fireworks based annual celebration that celebrates the last eruption of ...

This morning, we docked on the island of Crete, in the city of Heraklion. We disembarked for a three hour guided tour. The allotted time was so short, we felt it was actually too short; we couldn't get a true feel and taste of the island. We did, however, make it to the ancient city of Knossos (3000 to 2000 years B.C.).

The city of Knossos gave us a great taste of Greek mythology. The city was built ...

... caique pulled into the port of Ammoudi, Oia we disembarked, because we did not explore this part of the island on our previous visit. Once again it was a hike to the town, about 360 tall steps and it was hot but we took it slowly and of course made it.

Oia is beautiful- narrow lanes, interesting architecture, blue topped churches and a lovely ...
